President’s Message:

It’s been almost 3 years since our Golden Retriever / Lab mix died. I’ve missed her terribly. She was going to be our last dog. My wife and I wanted the freedom in retirement to go where and when we wanted without worrying about taking a dog with us or getting someone to care for our dog if we left her home. But, lately I’ve been longing for another dog. So, along with the help of my daughter and our grandson, we started pressuring my wife to let us have a dog. She finally gave in. Four weeks ago we brought home the cutest Lab / Poodle mix puppy. I’d forgotten how much work puppies are with the potty training and everything and she’s quite mischievous. But we just love her.

Shortly after bringing her home, I made an appointment with the vet to check her out. He checked her skin, teeth, gums, ears, paws, tested for parasites, updated her shots, and probably a bunch of other stuff I didn’t realize he was checking. After the vet visit, I got to thinking how this was a little like the inspection we should giving our motorcycles before we ride. The MSF calls it T-CLOCS. Just like the vet inspected my puppy to make sure she is free from issues that could turn into problems, we should be inspecting our bikes to catch issues that could turn into problem on the road. Open up the checklist and make it habit to check these things on a regular basis.
