January 2020 Newsletter

FROM THE EDITOR……………

EGAD!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe its 2020, a new decade, and 20 years since Y2K? I remember when I was a kid watching sci- fi movies about trips to mars and futuristic happenings, it was oftentimes in the year of 20 something. Then of course there was Orwell’s famous book “1984” which I read back in the 60’s. Seems like many things predicted in 1984 are happening now. Then there was the song about “In the year 2525”. Thats only five hundred and twenty five years away now!
Thankfully we Drifters are still vertical and many of us can still crawl onto our sleds, but hearing its now 2020 reminds us we better get our motors running, head out on the highway, looking’ for adventure and whatever comes our way before there’s so many driverless Ubers and Semis plus UPS and Fed EX delivery drones falling out of the sky that we’re afraid to venture out.
No fear yet! Come and join your clubbies and bring 2020 in right! Check webmaster Dawn’s masterwork, namely our fantastic Drifter website, for all the rides and activities that will be scheduled for the new year. Remember you can contribute to the fun by suggesting, planning, and leading a ride or activity yourself.  Members who are new to our club probably have some fresh ideas they can contribute so we don’t go stale with our offerings. Any new ideas can be introduced and discussed at our annual business meeting and pot luck dinner later this month.
In the meantime come on out for our Drifter Wednesday rides and the Saturday Zion Harley burger and hot dog lunches and rides after.
Drifters are fortunate this past year as some prospective new members have been riding with us. They are great people and everyone enjoys having them around. Hopefully they’ll consider becoming members at the business meeting.

See you out there…………..

EDITOR MIKE

PS   Thanks, Drifters, for allowing me to be your volunteer editor this past year. I’m always open to suggestions and constructive criticisms so don’t hesitate to let me know how you feel.
