Drifters Newsletter November 2018

From The Editor…….

Can you believe the weather we’re enjoying lately? All of a sudden mornings are crisp and afternoons are warm enough for perfect rides. Drifters up north are getting out their long johns but us flatlanders are still riding our sleds in nice temps. Hopefully, November will have some nice days so we can putt to our heart’s content and our northern brothers and sisters can join in on our rides.
Of course the big event we all point to in November is Thanksgiving when we get together with family and friends to celebrate our good fortune to be living in the greatest country in the world, the good old USA!
We will again be having our annual Turkey Trot lunch ride where some lucky Drifters will take home a certificate for a free Thanksgiving  turkey as well as other wonderful prizes.
Because we are going off daylight savings and the days are getting colder we will mostly be riding south on our now Thursday rides. Starting Thursday November 8th our meet up place will be at Exit 2 at the Terrible’s gas station. Its a brand new station and has Chevron gas at Maverik prices. Restrooms and coffee are available too. KSU at 10:00 AM. KSU times may be adjusted as we get deeper into winter. Watch for Dawn’s Drifter email updates so you’ll be there on time. The Zion Harley burger lunches and possible ride afterward schedule remains the same. 11:30 AM on Saturdays.
Details on other Drifter November happenings follow below in the newsletter. Remember, any Drifter with a good idea for a ride or activity, contact a Drifter committee member, Webmaster Dawn, or me and we’ll get it scheduled.

Editor Mike

PS  Don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour before you hit the sack Saturday night or you will be messed up until DST starts up again next year !!!!!!!!!

Notes from your Webmaster

Hi Drifters!  A big thank you to everyone who joined us for a great dinner at Magelby’s for our October dinner.  The food was great and the company was the best.  I’m still on a sugar high from that giant slice of chocolate cake!  Drifters hung around quite a long time after dinner catching up on the latest news.  I passed out T-shirts to some of those folks that ordered them, and still have a few T-shirts still awaiting delivery.  I’ll bring them with me to all upcoming Drifter events so you can grab yours at that time.  If you are in the neighborhood, text or call me and I’ll be happy to meet-up and get them to you.  We also held the drawing for the free T-shirts during dinner.  Congratulations to Matt Matlock and Don Quayle, our lucky winners!  (Tom Fabio drew the lucky numbers.)

Next month’s dinner will be at Cafe Sabor on Saint George Blvd (used to be the Wagonwheel restaurant). Cafe Sabor has a full bar, a great menu, and even a BlueBird Chocolates counter.  Dinner will be Wednesday November 14th at 6:00pm.  Please RSVP to Bonnie by Monday, November 12th (Veteran’s Day).

The Secret Word drawing will be held during dinner at Cafe Sabor.  So far the only entries are:  Greg Clark, Tom Fabio and Pam Fabio. Don’t you Drifters want to win $25.00?  Check out last month’s newsletter (carefully) for the details, and get your answer to Dawn to be included in that drawing!  Hope to see you all there!

Please check out the new feature on our website – there’s a new link added to MC Rider; a series of professional Motorcycle Safety videos that are really interesting and informative.
