Drifters Newsletter November 2016
Message from the President:
Drifters!
Another glorious Drifter month is upon us and as usual lots of great rides and Drifter get togethers are in store. Last month was a gas! Thanks to all Drifters who came out to join in the fun! Weather permitting we have two set rides each week. Fridays we meet at The Golden Corral at 9:30 AM and then ride after breakfast. Saturdays its the Zion Harley donation burger and dog fest and again a ride after. Meet at Zion Harley at 11:30 AM. Drifters who attend these set rides will determine as a group the route and destination for the ride. Of course any special rides, dinners, or get togethers are not to be missed so be there or be square! Those who decide not to ride can always show up in their cage. The main thing is Drifter togetherness. Hope to see everyone out this month! Always check out our website at driftersmc.com for the event calendar, past ride reviews, and up to date info on all club activities.
Ride safe and have fun!

Hi Drifters, first off, my apologies for getting this newsletter out midway through November..It’s been a really busy month for me, so please forgive my temporary lapse. Planning, executing and following up rides, newsletters, dinners, and Christmas Party has kept me hopping, not to mention actually going on a ride or two with my Drifter Buddies. Forget about all my other personal stuff – lucky for me that Mark is really good at fending for himself at dinner time!
We had a former Drifter come back into our ranks – so many of you may already know Shirley Grier. She contacted me through Vern and I invited her to join us at the Harley Davidson Saturday burger lunch a few short weeks back. I was anxious to meet her, so I got myself together and joined the Drifters at Zion HD. Shirley is a delight, so glad she is back for another stint with the Drifters. Mike & Trish invited me on a ride after lunch, which I accepted. While Mike was finishing up kibitzing with fellow Drifters, I zipped over to the Texaco Station for a fill up prior to the ride. I returned to Zion HD, waited a bit and we were off (or so I thought)! My battery was toast! Such a drag to have a Honda break down at the Harley dealer! A couple Drifters attempted to push start me…didn’t happen. I ended up waiting for a flatbed tow truck to take me and my trusty steed home. One nice benefit – the tow truck driver, Cameron Kent, has decided he is interested in joining the Drifters! He even joined us on our next ride, the Bunkerville Loop, the following weekend on his newly acquired Yamaha V-Star!
The ride through Valley of Fire this past Veterans Day was wonderful! Weather was gorgeous, poker hands were fun, and food and friends were great. My friend and co-worker Cindy joined us again on her Harley. Guess we didn’t make too bad of a first impression! It was a nice turnout, especially when you consider our ranks have thinned due to several being out of town or under the weather. Be sure to read Editor Mike’s review of this ride in the Drifter Diversions section of this website – photos are included.
Christmas Party arrangements are nearly finished! So far, we know that we’ll have nearly the same wonderful buffet menu as last year. As soon as everything is written in stone, the email invites will be sitting in your in-box. Lynn will be accepting your RSVP’s.
Hope to see you all at our Drifter Dinner at Olive Garden this coming Sunday!
Keep the shiny side up!
