Drifters Newsletter May 2017
It’s May, and it’s prime riding season! Drifters have been coming out in good numbers to attend rides and dinners lately. All of our April activities were well attended. We had the Monthly Drifter Dinner at Rib and Chop house, several impromptu rides to Mesquite, Kanab, though Zion NP and Enterprise. Our “big” ride was to Laughlin, NV for the Annual River Run Rally, and we had more than a dozen Drifters attend. You can read all about it and see pictures under the tab labeled Drifter Diversions/Photo Album.
May looks like it is shaping up to be a fun time. Our next Drifter Dinner is on Tuesday, May 23rd, at Hank’s Riverwalk Grill located in Sunriver. Dinner will be at 6:00pm, and RSVP’s are required no later than Friday, May 19th to Pam. Hank’s Riverwalk has a nice variety on their menu – Salads, Steaks & Chops, Salmon, Burgers, Wraps, Appetizers and Desserts as well as a full bar. Hank’s is located at 4210 Bluegrass Way in Saint george, just off I-15 Exit 2, near the SunRiver Gold Club House.
Our next organized ride is on Friday, May 12 and we will be riding to Caliente, Nevada for lunch. Meet-up at the Sinclair Gas Station located at 386 N. Bluff Street at 10:30 am. We’ll make a stop at about 11:15-ish to pick up Northern Drifter members at the Beryl School, then onward for lunch at the favorite local hangout – The Brandin’ Iron Saloon. This place has great food and a very cool atmosphere. Trip advisor gives Brandin’ Iron a 4 star rating!
The Drifters Executive Committee met on Tuesday, May 2, and has a few surprises:
1) Beginning with the Caliente ride on May 12, all organized Drifter rides (not the continuing weekly rides) will have an added bonus: At each organized ride, a raffle ticket will be given for each participating membership. When we reach our destination, a drawing will be held for $25.00 cash! It’s just the Drifters way of thanking you for joining the fun. (We know it’s not like winning the lottery, but it should cover your lunch tab.) One ticket per couple and one for each single member who participates in the ride.
2) Effective immediately – Brand new members will receive a small embroidered Drifters MC patch (3.25″ x 1.75″) when they join the club and remit payment of their first year Dues. This will continue until our current supply of small patches is gone, so be sure to invite your riding buddies to join!
3) FYI Current members: We still have the large embroidered patches (8.25″ x 4.5″) available for sale and we’ve dropped the price from $20.00 down to $15.00 for anyone who wishes to purchase. See the Drifters Official Merchandise tab on this site for more information. Please contact me if you want one.
.
4) NEW Drifter Ladies Breakfast – All Drifter Ladies are invited to meet for breakfast on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 9:30am. We will be trying a new restaurant each month, so be sure to watch the Drifter Event Calendar on the website for restaurant location information. Ladies breakfast this month will be on Thursday, May 18th, 9:30am at Egg and I. Egg and I is located at 1091 N. Bluff St, in the Sunset Corner Shopping Center. This month you will RSVP to Dawn (text, email or phone is ok with me) so we can get seated together.
…..
Don’t forget we have weekly continuing rides…
Wednesdays at 10:00 (PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE!) – Coral Canyon Texaco – those showing up will determine that day’s destination.
Fridays at 9:30 – Meet up at Golden Corral Restaurant for breakfast and impromptu ride will follow if weather is nice.
Saturdays at 11:30 – Meet at Zion Harley Davidson for their weekly burger/hot dog bbq ($5.00 donation required), then impromptu ride.
It’s great to see so many of you Drifters out there and participating!
Keep the shiny side up!
