Drifters Newsletter June 2019

FROM THE EDITOR……….

OMG !!!!!!!! Is it possible? Its June and we have NO JUNE GLOOM !!!!!! At least that’s what we called the crappy, gray days that followed a magnificent May of warmth and sunny days when I lived in, dare I say it, the Golden State of California. But hey, here we are in beautiful Utah with lots of June sun and 100 degree temps in Dixie already! What’s to do but get out on our sleds and head north to cooler climes which lie just a few miles away.
For Drifters, June has busted out already with our traditional annual BBQ hosted by our Dewayne and Kathy Smith. As usual their always rustic and bucolic cabin in Brookside was the perfect spot to enjoy good times and great food in the shade of the tall cottonwoods, the carpet of lush green grass, and the relaxing murmur of the rushing Santa Clara River that borders the property. To top off the potluck BBQ was tri tip steaks provided by the club. Thanks to treasurer Lynne Piper for organizing the BBQ potluck sign ups and for taking the orders from clubbies that wanted a steak. Thanks to those Drifters who came early to set up tables and chairs and help with anything needing to be done before our group arrived for the festivities. We can’t thank Dewayne and Kathy enough for their hosting of this annual event. Its always one of our favorite events of the year. This year was more difficult for Dewayne because he just got out of the repair shop and is recovering from both back and knee surgery. Of course he pulled it off, with Kathy’s help, for the grateful Drifters.
A lot of great riding is available in June so drag out that sled and join Drifters on one of our weekly Thursday rides ( now 9:00 AM, KSU at Coral Canyon Texaco off Rt. 9 starting Thursday June13th. ) or stop by for a burger or hot dog lunch and Drifter ride after our Saturday weekly Zion Harley lunch at 11:30 AM. Don’t forget our every Friday breakfast at Golden Corral at 9:30 AM.
