Drifters Newsletter July 2019
FROM THE EDITOR…….
July is here and Drifters are ready to get with a new month of fun and exciting Drifter rides and activities. Right away of course is Drifter Margrete’s 4th of July celebration at her pad in Hurricane. It is this Thursday and should be a great time with burgers, hotdogs, cool drinks, and potluck items brought by our members. B.Y.O.B. Margrete’s swimming pool will also be available for anyone wishing to cool down from the now rising Mojave desert temps. Skinny dipping is not recommended due to the age demographics of our group but in case anyone wishes to go Au naturale, eye coverings for non participants will be available to any who want them. Fireworks will be provided by the city of Hurricane in the evening. Check with Margrete on what potluck items we need to have a nice variety of food choices. See the Event Calendar for details. Emails were also sent to Drifter Members.
Don’t forget to make your reservations for the Drifter Minden, Nevada destination ride. We will be in Minden at the Carson Valley Inn September 22 to the 25th. Daily loop rides out of Minden are planned. One loop will be to a BBQ lunch being offered at Mat and Becca’s home in Susanville, California just over the state line north of Reno and Lake Tahoe. A visit to famous Virginia City is also planned. Up and over spectacular Sonora pass to the gold rush country of the California 49ers for lunch is another highlight. Not sure if you can make it? Reserve a room anyway in the Inn’s Motor Lodge section and you can always cancel it if you can’t come. Details are in the Event Calendar on this site. Drifters can go to Minden on their own, with others, and some will trailer their sleds. Its 500 miles to Minden so in past trips people riding planned for two days to arrive and two days home. Veteran riders John Marshall and Danny Martin did it in one day last time!
See you out there!
