Drifters Newsletter July 2016

President’s Message:

Drifters!

Another glorious Drifter month is upon us and as usual lots of great rides and Drifter get togethers are in store. Last month was a gas! Thanks to all Drifters who came out to join in the fun! Weather permitting we have two set rides each week. Fridays we meet at The Golden Corral at 9:30 AM and then ride after breakfast. Saturdays its the Zion Harley donation burger and dog fest and again a ride after. Meet at Zion Harley at 11:30 AM. Drifters who attend these set rides will determine as a group the route and destination for the ride. Of course any special rides, dinners, or get togethers are not to be missed so be there or be square! Those who decide not to ride can always show up in their cage. The main thing is Drifter togetherness. Hope to see everyone out this month! Always check out our website at driftersmc.com for the event calendar, past ride reviews, and up to date info on all club activities.

Ride safe and have fun!

Message from the Editor:

The 2016 Drifter 4th 0f July Extravaganza was held Monday afternoon and evening at Margret’s fabulous water park in wonderful Hurricane, Utah. The water park is situated on the grounds of Margret’s lovely home and provided respite from the 100 degree plus temps of the eastern Mojave biosphere. Over twenty Drifters and friends assembled to swim, relax, and celebrate the birth of our rapidly declining country and national culture. As usual any angst we felt was salved by the copious amount of food provided by Margret and fellow revelers. Scrumptious appetizers were followed by a main course of hotdogs, brats, and burgers and several side dishes as well including Susan’s tasty corkscrew pasta salad. BBQing was performed by chef extraordinaire, Eric Gbruski of the Cliffside restaurant in scenic St. George. He is Pam’s son and we were fortunate to have his services. Thanks Eric! Beer, wine, and spirits were BYOB but ice, bottled water, and soft drinks were provided by the club. Several desserts also made the scene including Trish’s pineapple upside down cake. Brownies and cake also tempted attendees. Drifters took advantage of the water park’s beautiful pool to cool off. Those who declined to go for a dip planted themselves in the shade of Margret’s majestic trees or under the patio roof. To cap off the affair the city of Hurricane provided a fireworks show. Neighbors also ignited all sorts of pyrotechnics in the street to make it a complete show. Fortunately the fire department didn’t have to send units to extinguish any burning structures in our area. If you missed our 4th celebration you can now kick yourself but don’t let it happen again! Thanks to Margret and all her clan who did the set up and take down for the event. Margret, as always, continues to be a major contributor to the success of our club.

P.S. Drifter President, John Templeton, Treasurer, Lynne Piper, Secretary and Webmaster, Dawn Derenski, and hostess of the event, Margret, thank all Drifters and friends who attended and contributed to this event.

Secretary’s Corner:

What a great 4th of July Party at Margrete’s!  Great food, friends and stimulating conversation!  During the summer, it seems most of our socializing is centered around food – my shocks are groaning under the strain.  It’s just too bad that motorcycle riding is not aerobic! Speaking of food, don’t forget our upcoming Drifter Dinner for July at Cliffside on Saturday the 16th at 6:00pm. An email reminder to RSVP will be arriving in your inbox soon.  I will need a headcount, so that Cliffside can accommodate all of us.  Eric has promised us a most delicious evening!  No rides are scheduled for July and the next one is Kanab Western Days at the very end of August.  If anyone wants to suggest an impromptu ride – just let me know so I can inform the troops.

Be sure to check out the Drifter Diversion section to see John Marshall’s photos of the party!
