President’s Message

We have a long standing rule at my house. We don’t’ start decorating for Christmas until Thanksgiving is over. Thanksgiving is a great holiday and it deserves to be properly observed without other holidays crowding it out. As I’m writing this message it’s 2 days after Thanksgiving and we’ve had our Christmas tree up for 2 weeks. The lights were hung outside last week and there’s wrapped gifts under the tree. It’s been so challenging this year with all the restrictions and the fear of COVID-19 that we just needed a little boost. So we started Christmas early. It has helped lift our spirits. I hope your family is doing well and you find your own ways lift your spirits this Christmas season.

In spite of the pandemic and all the problems it has caused, there is still plenty to be thankful for. I’m especially thankful for my family. Everything would be so much harder without their love and support. I’m thankful I can ride. It brings me joy and a certain peace. A few weeks ago I was able to join some friends in southern California for a ride to Death Valley. It was great to be with good friends. During the ride my bike developed a squeak in the rear suspension. So I took it down the the Indian dealer in Las Vegas this week. They still have it (had to order parts) and the repair will be expensive. But I am thankful it’s not as expensive as an oil change on a Yamaha. And I’m thankful for my Drifter friends. What’s better than doing something you love? Doing it with people who share the same passion. And you all are great people to ride with. Thanks.
