Drifters Newsletter June 2016
President’s Message:
Drifters!
Another glorious Drifter month is upon us and as usual lots of great rides and Drifter get togethers are in store. Last month was a gas! Thanks to all Drifters who came out to join in the fun! Weather permitting we have two set rides each week. Fridays we meet at The Golden Corral at 9:30 AM and then ride after breakfast. Saturdays its the Zion Harley donation burger and dog fest and again a ride after. Meet at Zion Harley at 11:30 AM. Drifters who attend these set rides will determine as a group the route and destination for the ride. Of course any special rides, dinners, or get togethers are not to be missed so be there or be square! Those who decide not to ride can always show up in their cage. The main thing is Drifter togetherness. Hope to see everyone out this month! Always check out our website at driftersmc.com for the event calendar, past ride reviews, and up to date info on all club activities.
Ride safe and have fun!

Secretary’s Corner:
Our Drifter ride to Caliente, NV on May 14th was a great day-trip. Lunch at Brandin’ Iron in Caliente was tasty, some Drifters got breakfast, some lunch, but all enjoyed the fare. Vern was our guide and led us into beautiful Rainbow Canyon after our stop at the Brandin’ Iron. We rode deep into the canyon, crossed a couple small streams, until we finally reached a dirt road, turned around, then re-traced our route back. 10 Drifters on 8 bikes made the trek very enjoyable! We must have been a big deal to the owners of the Brandin’ Iron, as they insisted we pose in front of our bikes for the local newspaper! The weather was picture perfect!
A week later, our Drifter Dinner at Capelletti’s was well attended…22 Drifters showed up for a fun evening of feasting and socializing. We overwhelmed the place, but they managed to put our tables all in a row. The other patrons just had to deal with our jumping around and socializing! Even our Fearless Leader, John T made it to dinner with the rest of us! A great time was had by all!
Our next social / food event was the Memorial Weekend potluck/swim party at Margrete’s…a huge crowd attended and we consumed mass quantities of tacos, chips, margaritas and tasty stuff. The weather couldn’t have been nicer…warm enough for Margrete’s bathtub-like pool, but not so hot that we melted while socializing! As always, Margrete was the consummate hostess! Shall we take a vote on doing this weekly? (Actually, we will be doing it again on July 4th, so mark your calendar!)
Just a week after our get-together at Margrete’s, 12 of us made the trip to the North Rim for lunch at the lodge. As always, our esteemed John Marshall took some stunning photos, and Mike Roe, our Editor of Excellence, put together a nice review of the trip. Go to Drifter Diversions/Photo Album to read this amazing (and scary tale) of how we survived the attack of the Buffalo!
Hope to see you’ll at DeWayne & Kathy’s Party on Saturday June 18th!
Keep the shiny side up!
