Drifters Newsletter March 2015

President’s Message:

Welcome to the season of Zip Code rains. Fifty-five degrees this morning (Thurs March 12th), so I was all set to ride my bike to the airport. Sorry – rained in my neighborhood. No where else. Blue skies showing in all other quadrants. Bad Karma.

I’ve come up with a strategy that if I don’t write a presidential piece except every six weeks, instead of for the first of each month – I’ll only have to come up with something to say maybe eight times instead of twelve! What a plan. As you read this, please be assured that my iPad is secure (you can trust me), the Google server it is sent over is secure, and my iPad is just one of six devices I could have used – but this is the easiest. Rest Easy.

We had a fun ride to Kanab for lunch a few weeks ago – the trip notes are elsewhere on our site. I hope it illustrates that it isn’t too hard to come up with a spur of the moment idea, and through our electronic newsletter, get the word out rather quickly. So if anyone out there in Drifter land has a similar notion, just post it to Ms. Dawn and ride with a buddy.

Mike Roe and I met at the HD shop yesterday for a fire roasted pizza. The traveling Vietnam Wall is being erected and will be there until this Sunday March 15th.   April 17th and  18th is Zion HD’s  demo rides of their ’15 models. You can include a plate lunch for $5.00 from 11:30 – 2:00 pm.

John Marshal had a brief discussion about the possibility of doing an overnight to Page and doing a little hiking / photography of Antelope Slot Canyons out there. Haven’t thought of a date yet, but let me know if it’s something you’d like to do with us.

Blue skies, tail winds –

John Templeton

Secretarys corner:
Spring is here, so some of us are getting the itch to take out the two-wheeler again, in anticipation… Mark and I got our bikes washed & detailed by Dusty (a local guy who does mobile car/bike wash/detailing). Awesome job, great price – a nice, shiny outcome, and now we’re ready to hit the road! Of course, I’m gonna try to avoid any and all mud puddles! If you’d like Dusty’s information, email me or send me a message via the “Contact us” form.

More exciting news: The Drifters annual overnight trip to Laughlin for the River Run Rally is coming up fast. If you are going, please get your reservation in soon..they are almost sold out. We will leave Bloomington Chevron 4/22 at 9:00am and ride to Laughlin, route TBD by those that show up. More info available further down in the events section.
Webmaster’s message:
Feel free to suggest impromptu day or weekend rides..the Secretary (yeah, me also) will send out last minute email invitations to all club members…LETS GO PLAY OUTSIDE! I’m also on bended knee once again looking for submissions of photos, stories, or bios for the website – it needn’t be long and elaborate…just entertaining!

See you on the road!
